    โš ๏ธ Launch Week Notice

Last verified: June 2026 launch build. Voidling Bound launched June 9, 2026. Attribute scaling, evolution requirements, and balance values may change with patches. Check in-game tooltips for current numbers.

    The Safe First Hour Route

Your first hour in Voidling Bound should answer three questions: which Voidling feels good to control, how do the 5 attributes affect your playstyle, and what does the core loop (mission โ†’ evolve โ†’ repeat) feel like. Don't optimise yet โ€” just learn.

    1. Play the free demo first (if you haven't) โ€” it includes Kwipeck and Gilick, the two starter Voidlings. 30 minutes in the demo will answer more questions than any guide.
    2. Pick a starter that matches your playstyle โ€” Kwipeck (long-range, minigun) or Gilick (close-range, shotgun). See the comparison below.
    3. Learn the controls and camera โ€” third-person shooter fundamentals. You control the Voidling directly, not through menus.
    4. Complete the tutorial missions โ€” they introduce combat, evolution, and the mission structure.
    5. Evolve once โ€” get to your first evolution branch point and make a choice. See how the Voidling changes visually and mechanically.
    6. Then decide what to focus on โ€” more Voidlings, deeper evolution, breeding, or pushing into Abyss.

Starter Voidling Choice: Kwipeck vs Gilick

The free Steam demo includes exactly these two Voidlings. You can try both before committing in the full game.

    Trait Kwipeck ๐Ÿ” Gilick ๐ŸฆŽ
Primary Weapon Beak Minigun โ€” long-range rapid fire Cone Blast โ€” close-range shotgun spread
    Secondary Explosive bomb Leap attack
Playstyle Nimble long-range DPS. Fast dodge, keep distance. Aggressive short-range brawler. Get in, blast, get out.
Evolves To Organic (poison-sniper) or Pyro (fire AoE + burn) Arctic Gilick (Cryo โ€” freeze + shatter)
Special Variant Mutated Kwipeck from Golden Egg โ€” pre-evolved, extra jump โ€”

    ๐Ÿ’ก Can't Decide?

Pick Kwipeck if you prefer shooters. Pick Gilick if you prefer brawlers. Both are viable โ€” the game has 9 base species and you will collect more. Your first choice does not lock you into one playstyle forever.

Note: The free Steam demo displays this Voidling as "Glick." The official Hatchery Games Species Overview video (June 1, 2026) uses Gilick โ€” that is the corrected, official name. Both refer to the same lizard starter.

    Controls โ€” Third-Person Shooter Basics

Voidling Bound is not turn-based. You control your Voidling directly in third-person, like Warframe or a character action game. Core controls:

    • Move โ€” WASD or left stick (standard third-person movement)
    • Shoot / Primary attack โ€” left mouse / right trigger
    • Secondary ability โ€” varies by Voidling (bomb, leap, etc.)
    • Dodge / Dash โ€” iframes-based evasion. Critical for survival.
    • Block / Parry โ€” timing-based defense. Parry windows vary by Voidling.
    • Ultimate ability โ€” charged ability, charges through combat actions
    • Sprint / Jump โ€” standard movement tools

Note: Exact keybinds may vary by platform and build. Check the in-game settings menu for your current bindings. Controller is supported and Steam Deck compatible.

The 5 Attributes โ€” What They Do

Voidling Bound uses a 5-attribute system. Every Voidling has values in each attribute, and investing points (or inheriting via breeding) shapes your build.

Attribute What It Affects Good For
Strength Physical damage output Melee-focused Voidlings like Nimiod
Vitality HP pool, defense, survivability Close-range brawlers like Gilick
Essence Ability/special power, ultimate damage Ability-spam builds, elemental damage
Recuperation Health regen, healing received Sustain builds, Abyss endurance runs
Agility Movement speed, dodge cooldown, dash distance Hit-and-run builds like Kwipeck

Note: Exact attribute scaling values (how much damage Strength adds per point, how much HP Vitality gives, etc.) are balance values that can change with patches. Check in-game tooltips for current numbers. The descriptions above are based on the official feature list and developer interviews.

Difficulty Settings โ€” What We Know

Voidling Bound offers difficulty options. Based on the Steam page and developer descriptions:

    • Standard difficulty โ€” balanced for the intended experience. Start here.
    • Harder difficulties โ€” likely increase enemy HP/damage, reduce drop rates, or add modifiers. Exact tuning not yet documented.
    • Abyss mode โ€” separate endless mode with its own escalating difficulty curve. Not a "difficulty setting" for the campaign.

Note: Difficulty options and their exact effects will be confirmed as players progress through launch week. Check the in-game settings menu.

First Missions โ€” What to Expect

The campaign opens with tutorial missions that teach core systems:

    1. Basic movement and combat โ€” learn to control your starter Voidling
    2. First combat encounters โ€” fight Bulbous or GenBot enemies (the two confirmed enemy factions)
    3. First evolution โ€” reach a branch point and choose a path
    4. Mission structure โ€” accept missions, deploy to planets (Vireo, Solum, Aulis), complete objectives, return for rewards

Missions reward XP, credits, and sometimes eggs. Golden and silver eggs are hidden in some locations โ€” explore thoroughly.

    First Mistakes to Avoid

    1. Skipping the demo โ€” it's free and teaches you the core loop. 30 minutes in the demo prevents 2 hours of confusion in the full game.
    2. Ignoring dodge/parry โ€” this is an action game. You cannot facetank everything. Learn the evade timings early.
    3. Rushing evolution without understanding โ€” each evolution branch is a permanent choice. Read the tooltips before committing.
    4. Ignoring attributes โ€” attributes directly affect combat performance. Don't put points into Essence on a physical brawler.
    5. Selling or discarding eggs โ€” golden and silver eggs contain rare genes and variants. Keep them.
    6. Jumping straight to Abyss โ€” Abyss is endgame content. Build a roster of evolved Voidlings first.
    7. Assuming all online info is accurate โ€” the game launched yesterday. Most "guides" are pre-release speculation. Verify in-game.
